A decade of community giving to provide care for seriously-ill children
Abbotsford, B.C. (February 28, 2024): Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is pleased to announce that the 10th annual Gift of Love Gala presented by MNP will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Abbotsford Centre. Donors, partners, sponsors, and supporters of Canuck Place from the Fraser Valley will come together for a spectacular night to honour 10 years of generosity, and raise funds for essential pediatric palliative care for children and families across B.C. and the Yukon.
This year's very special 10th Gift of Love Gala, hosted once again by Every Conversation Counts author, Riaz Meghji will feature an exceptional dinner, exciting live and silent auctions, incredible entertainment, and dancing with DJ Marvel. Gala attendees will also be introduced to Canuck Place parents Rebecca and Derek Van Oosterom from Chilliwack, who will share their family’s story and care experience at Canuck Place. A candle lighting ceremony will take place in honour of Rebecca and Derek’s son, Ethan, and all of the children at Canuck Place.
Guests can enter an exciting raffle sponsored by Lanka Jewels, for a chance to win a beautiful custom-designed ring that features 10 pear-shaped diamonds to honour a decade of compassionate care at Canuck Place, valued at $7,200. Guests and B.C. residents will also have access to bid in the silent auction sponsored by Leith Wheeler Investment Council. Some of the silent auction highlights include an RBC Olympian Experience, a VIP Abbotsford Air Show Experience, a 4-Night Stay at La Casa Cottages in Kelowna, a VIP Vancouver Fashion Week Experience, and more. Over the past nine years, Gift of Love has raised over $3.5 million to support care at Canuck Place. All funds raised at this year’s event will support complex medical care for over 871 children facing life-threatening illnesses and their families, across B.C. and the Yukon.

About Canuck Place Children’s Hospice: Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is BC and the Yukon’s pediatric palliative care provider. Over 871 children living with life-threatening illnesses and families from five provincial health regions receive Canuck Place inpatient and community-based care (in home/in hospital). Canuck Place operates 13 patient beds and 8 family suites through two hospices in Vancouver and Abbotsford.
